World’s Second Unlocked iPhone - (eBay item 230164884672 end time Aug-30-07 17:27:18 PDT)
Being among iFanBoys all day, this really doesn’t surprise me. Personally, I chuckle because it’s just another fad that will trickle by. COME ON PEOPLE, THE PHONE CANNOT COPY & PASTE. Though I must admit, the fanaticism at times can be entertaining. Cute.
Good for the kid, though. All it took was a 17 year-old to crack it.
UPDATE: It’s still climbing, and it has 6 days to go.

This is interesting news since none of my complaints are with the iPhone itself, which is a very interesting device and has seriously upped the bar for any phones that follow.
Rather I think all ire should be focussed squarely on AT&T since they:
1. provide only shit-poor, expensive bandwidth,
2. demand a contract from subscribers even though they don’t subsidize the handset in any way, and
3. retain the option of vetting all new intrinsic applications Apple releases in the future. (Note these are not the web-services based applications that seem to be popping up like weeds. These are the binary applications that Apple can install on your phone.)
All Apple is really guilty of is rushing the iPhone to market before its various services and features had been completely integrated. (It’s certainly disappointing to see the wonderful (but hardly innovative) position-sensitive display work well for web pages and video but fail to work at all for the other applications.)
Yes, the “Jesus Phone” seems to be a fad, but it’s not, nor can we expect it to fade, because Apple doesn’t really sell computers or phones or other technical wonders. Apple sells an attractive, upscale, creative and very modern lifestyle.
