Fliggo is the new-kid-on-the-block when it comes to video sites and my latest project. As you may already know, there are many video sites. Dominating the market, of course, is YouTube.
So you may ask what Fliggo offers that you can’t find at other video sites, and that is exactly what I am going to tell you.
Playlists
Fliggo offers you a way to assemble playlists that will play straight through without reloading the page. Check out this example of all of the Chad Vader Episodes. On YouTube, you’d have to find the next episode in related or elsewhere. On Fliggo, you can just put together a playlist and watch all of them as you please and at your own pace.
I can see this being used to group together similar clips and making useful presentations or compilations of interesting stuff.
Video Clipboard
As a registered member of Fliggo, you have access to what is called the Video Clipboard. The Video Clipboard is a versatile tool. It can be used to generate quick playlists, or used as a pivot point to manage your channels and playlists in your backend.
If you are browsing the site and you want to ‘mark a video down’ for later, you can just add it to your clipboard. Then, in the top right hand of the site, you can access you clipboard and just ‘Watch All’ of the videos that you’ve tallied up. This is very cool. I often find myself frustrated that I have to watch a video and then go back to watch the next on many sites. I know YouTube has a similar feature, though it’s rather convoluted and confusing and I can’t seem to get it to work right.
In your backend, say you’re on your Playlists page, your Video Clipboard appears on the right hand side. You can move selected videos from your clipboard to an existing playlist, or to a new one. This makes it really easy to manage your own stuff while you’re watching other people’s stuff.
Which brings me to the next part…
Channels
Every site has channels. What’s different about the channels here? You can add any video from the site to your channel, as opposed to only your own, and essentially create your own video site. Very much like Glumbert, which is essentially a video blog where they post what the find to be the best videos on the internet, and it works for them.
As you may see, I’ve included my channel on the right hand side of A Clever Cookie using the RSS feed. This way I can show the world the videos I find interesting with a simple click of ‘Add to Channel’ below the video.
Other than that, the channels are pretty simple and nothing spectacular, but they will be expanded once people start to use them more and become demanding.
Better Quality
As you well know, YouTube butchers the quality of your video when you upload it. Fliggo realizes the importance of quality and supports a multitude of resolutions, even HD/widescreen resolutions. Upload something and try full screen.
Personalized Video Recommendations
For registered members, Fliggo takes a stab at what kind of videos they think you’d like, and it seems to be working out pretty well. This helps you save time in browsing through crappy videos and gives you direct means of finding a video that may appeal to you.
Points System
As a user of Fliggo, you accumulate points for participating (commenting, uploading videos) and also other people can rate your comments and videos which in turn gives you points based on their rating (negative or positive). The front page shows the top users and perhaps those points will eventually be able to be cashed in or rewarded and not just reputation
Channels also gain points.
Fliggo is a Blank Canvas
Everyone is welcome to upload videos, create channels and playlists, and participate in discussion.

I’m not a big video goer, but I love this: “Personalized Video Recommendations”.
